Thomas A. Wasserman

Thomas "Tommy" Wasserman, 70, life-long resident of Superior, WI, died from cancer, Tuesday, February 21, 2023. His battle with the disease and pain began in August, and once diagnosed correctly in January, accelerated quickly for Tom to face the inevitable. He was born in Superior on December 10, 1952, to Joe and Bette Wasserman.

Tom married Dorraine Tye on April 15, 2005.

He was a skilled softball player, bowler and renowned yet humble pool player. His pool accomplishments include being a member of City Championship Teams in ’94- Jokers 502; ’00-Who’s Bar 502; ’02- Lucky’s 502. Most recently he played in the Superior Trailblazers Pool League. He is the only league member to be honored to play in all 4 years of the All-League Match Play and named Captain for 2 of those years. Tom was also voted by members as the League MVP for 2020 & 2022.

As much as he loved sports, Tom also loved music, evidenced in his collection of albums and the 300+ live concerts he attended.

Tom is survived by his loving wife Dorraine; sister Pattie Soliday; special friends Tim Anderson (Nicolle) and his children; Nick Olson (Kelsie) and their children; Dorraine’ s stepmom Cindy Tye; sisters Tonia, Lisa (Phill) Pagorek and Chantal (James) Kilgore; nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, plus a huge group of dear friends and teammates.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Steve and Mark, brother-in-law Doc Soliday and several close friends.

Tom was a humble, kind man who would offer his help whenever needed. He was deeply loved and followed the lives of friends’ and family’s children and grandchildren in whatever sport or activity they were involved in. His loss is greatly felt by many.

The benefit for Tom & Dorraine, planned before Tom so quickly passed, will still take place Saturday, March 4, 2-6 pm, at the Superior, Moose Club.

There will be a Celebration of Life, Saturday, April 15, starting at 4 pm, at the Superior Moose Club.
