Todd D. Nykanen, 45, lifelong resident of Maple, died Thursday, December 20, 2018 unexpectedly at the family farm. Todd was born on January 16, 1973 in Kenosha, WI, the son of Donald and Michele (McDonald) Nykanen.
He graduated from Northwestern High School in 1991. He enjoyed playing football and received the “bandit” of the year award. He also loved weightlifting, physical fitness, walking in the woods, cutting wood, gardening and had a super green thumb. Todd also loved to read. He had the largest heart and a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his parents; one brother, Bradley (Amii Priem) Nykanen, Poplar, WI; four nieces and nephews, Taylor and Carsen Nykanen, Tyler Hood and Libby Priem (who he loved teasing); special Aunt and Uncle and Todd’s Godmother, Kathleen and Richard Vogelsang; many other uncles, aunts, cousins and friends; as well as his favorite dogs, Ellie and Monkey. He is preceded in death by his uncle, Hugh McDonald; and his grandparents, Nester and Lillian Nykanen and Eugene and Dorothy Garrity.
Visitation will begin at 10:30am, on January 5, 2019 at Faith Lutheran Church in Maple, WI and continue until the 12:00pm service with Pastor John Knierim officiating. Luncheon following service at Maple Community Center.
