Toivo I. Rinnet

Toivo I. Rinnet, 99, lifelong Poplar, Maple and Superior area resident, died Monday, August 28, 2017 at Twin Ports Health Services, Superior, WI. He was born January 22, 1918 in Oulu, WI, the son of Edward and Hilda Rinnet.

Toivo was a member of the LaVampa Finnish Singers in Duluth, MN. He married Julia Burke on September 2, 1945 in Maple, WI and they would have celebrated seventy-two years of marriage.

Toivo served his country in the United States Army Air Force and was stationed in Africa, Sicilly, Italy and France. He taught music in various places throughout his teaching career.

In addition to his wife Julia, Toivo is survived by several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and six sisters.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 6, 2017 in Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 East Fifth Street, Superior, and will continue until the 1:00 PM funeral service with Pastor Scott Stai officiating.

Pallbearers will be Toivo’s nephews, Richard, Raymond, Randy and Robert Rinnet, and Gary and John Peterson.

Burial will be in the Maple Memorial Cemetery, Maple, WI where military honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435 Honor Guard.
