Toni L. Matthews

Toni L. Matthews, 71, longtime Superior and Solon Springs resident, died Monday, January 5, 2015 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth.

She was born on July 8, 1943 in Superior, WI to Raymond and Frances (Herbert) Balow.

Toni graduated from the former Central High School in Superior, WI and she attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

She was employed as a Teacher’s Aid for Cooper Elementary School in the Superior School District for many years and then was the office manager for Commercial Service Bureau.

Toni married Michael “Mickey” Webster on December 30, 1983 and recently celebrated thirty-one years of marriage.

Toni was a member of Superior Women’s Bowling Association; Superior Women’s Softball and a member of a private social group called “The Club”.

She loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and dancing and was an avid Green Bay Packers football fan.

She is preceded in death by her father and her sister, Marian Johnson.

Toni is survived by her husband, Mickey, Solon Springs, WI; one daughter, Wendy (James) Madden, Superior, WI; two sons, Michael (Denise) Matthews, Iowa and Steven Matthews, Brooklyn Park, MN; her mother, Frances Martin, Superior, WI and seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Cailyn, Colton, Rylee, Raegen, Peri and Neve.

A Memorial Service will be held later this year in Solon Springs, WI.
