Tonia Marie Tye, 59, joined her mother and father in heaven, in Superior on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 11, 2025. She was born to Jesse and Mary Ann (Weis) Tye on November 3, 1965.
She graduated from Superior Senior High, class of 1986. Northwoods Painting & Sandblasting employed her as a painter for many years.
Tonia loved to be outdoors swimming or just feeling the warmth of the sun. She spent hours in her garden either planting and weeding or just listening and watching the birds. Searching for new additions to her garden and which plants to add was a favorite pastime. She had a passion for thrifting and bringing home anything that spoke to her.
Since she was a child she loved to draw and had a passion for writing poetry and filling journals. She will be remembered as a great artist in her own rite. Her first and foremost love was being a mother and grandmother. She had such pride watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and achieve their accomplishments.
Tonia is survived by her children, Jesse A. Tye, Breanna Mullikin, and Danielle (Ethan Thompson) Ranta; grandchildren: Alicia, Lukas, John, Hope, Mercede, Emily, Grace, Gage, Addy and Greyson; and great-grandchildren: Harlow Raine; Jaalen, Liam, and sisters Dorraine Wasserman, Lisa (Phill) Pagorek, and Chantal (James) Kilgore; nieces and nephews; Jamie, Keith, Natasha, Kendra and her faithful canine companion, her “Grumpy Old Man” Buddy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson Noah Lee; niece Falecia Rae; and brother-in-law Tom Wasserman.
A Time of Remembrance and Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.
The family asks friends of Tonia in lieu of flowers or gifts to plant a seed or feed the birds in her memory.
