Tracy J. Ruppe

Tracy Jean Ruppe, 51, lifelong area resident, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023, at St. Mary’s Essentia Health in Duluth, MN. She was born on June 9, 1971, in Superior, WI, the daughter of Melvin and Shirley (Johnson) Severson.

Tracy graduated from Superior Senior High School, the class of 1989 and continued her education at the University of Wisconsin Superior. She graduated in 1993, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. She worked for Kmart in Superior in the accounting department while going to college. In 1998, Tracy accepted an accounting position with Douglas County. She held many fiscal positions and was promoted several times. She was promoted to Assistant Finance Director in 2015.

She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Superior. She also joined the Lakeside Volunteer Fire Department in 2010 where she was appointed Second Assistant Chief after many years of service.

Tracy loved the outdoors. You could often find her in her garden, out on a walk, or making her own wine. She was also very active and ran many 5K’s in the area and enjoyed kayaking, fishing, and skiing in her free time.

Tracy is survived by her son, Hunter Ruppe, Lakeside, WI; brother Scott (Brenda) Severson, Superior; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 15, 2023, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 1924 Wyoming Ave in Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service with Pastor Sean Koos officiating.

Burial will be at Orienta Cemetery in Port Wing, WI.
