Vernon Jon Jacobson, 71, lifelong Superior resident, died Monday, July 2, 2018, with family by his side at Villa Marina Health & Rehabilitation in Superior, WI. He was born in Superior, August 14, 1946, the son of Harry Clifford and Clara (Lee) Jacobson.
He graduated from East High School in Superior and attended Wisconsin Indianhead Technical Institute for auto mechanics.
Vernon served his country honorably in the United States Air Force.
He worked as a maintenance technician at the Challenge Center in Superior for many years before his retirement.
He was an avid #1 Green Bay Packer fan, a Milwaukee Brewer’s fan and enjoyed Nascar, Johnny Cash and watching old movies.
He is survived by his lovely daughter, Judith; grandchildren, Lucy, Linus, Anna, Cynthia and Lily; sisters, Elsie Michaelson, Dairyland, WI, Karen (Kevin) Johnson, and Nancy Jacobson, all of Superior, WI; brother, Norman (Mary) Jacobson, Superior, WI; son-in-law, Larry Kristensen; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathleen in 2010; infant son, John; infant daughter, Nancy; daughter, Lynanne Kristensen; brothers, Harry, Richard, Gordon, and Rolfe Jacobson; parents; and sisters, Claudia Graves and Judith Martineau.
A Time of Remembrance and Celebration of Vernon’s Life will be held from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Monday, July 9, 2018 at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5 th Street, Superior.
Pallbearers for the service will be Paul, Jerry, Tom, David, Andrew, Kenneth, William and Dann.
Honorary pallbearers will be Vernon’s grandchildren.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Superior where military honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435 Honor Guard.
