Veronica Rose Michalski

August 28, 1928 — June 15, 2010

Veronica Rose Michalski, 81, of Superior, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospice in Duluth, with her family by her side.
She was born on August 28, 1928 in Haugen, WI to Joseph and Mary (Lastufka) Dostal. She graduated from Rice Lake High School in Rice Lake, WI.
Veronica married Raymond Michalski on May 2l, 1955 in Haugen, WI and recently celebrated fifty-five years of marriage.
She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, its Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court 1190.
Veronica enjoyed volunteering at church, St. Mary’s Hospital, gardening, walking with friends and playing cards with her grandchildren. She lovingly cared for her husband, children and grandchildren, affectionately becoming known as “Grandma Waffle.”
In addition to her husband Raymond, Veronica is survived by two daughters, Mary (Ron) Cairns, Lake Nebagamon, WI, Valerie (Phil DeBruyne) Stariha, Superior, WI; five sons, Michael (Carrie Ann) Michalski, Solon Springs, WI, Tony (Joyce) Michalski, Welch, MN, Richard (JoLynn) Michalski, Hastings, MN, Paul (Teri) Michalski, Baltimore, MD, Joseph (Donna) Michalski, Champlin, MN; four sisters, Frances Willger, Regina Brockman, Rita Dostal and Leona Didier; one brother, Joseph Dostal and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Marie Moravec, a brother-in-law James Moravec; two brothers, Norbert and Charles Dostal and three sisters-in-law, Martha and Dorothy Dostal, Florence Steffen.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with a Catholic Daughters Rosary at 10:30 AM on Friday, June 18, 2010 in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30AM with Veronica’s nephew, Rev. Fr. Gerard Willger, as celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the service will be her grandchildren.
Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Veronica’s family would like to thank the St. Luke’s staff for their love and care they showed Veronica during her stay.
