Victoria J. "Vicky" Krause

November 27, 1922 — February 20, 2015

Victoria J. “Vicky” Krause, 92, a lifelong Superior resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2015, at the Lighthouse of Superior with her family by her side. She was born on November 27, 1922 in Superior to Michael and Julia (Miotke) Fedyn.

Vicky graduated from the former Central High School and went on to receive her teaching degree from the former Superior State Teacher’s College, graduating Summa cum laude.

She began her teaching career at the Drummond High School. She returned to substitute teaching at Superior Senior High School, after Vicky raised her eight children. She retired in 1998.

She married James Krause on April 30, 1950 and celebrated 57 years of marriage before he passed away on December 22, 2007.

Vicky was a longtime active member of Holy Assumption Catholic Church where she played the organ for many years. She was also a member of the Superior Garden Club and Douglas County Kinship. Vicky enjoyed dancing, knitting, sewing, crossword puzzles, gardening, playing bridge and playing the piano. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by five daughters, Patricia (Paul) Roberts, Poplar, WI; Frances (Michael) Boris, Bayfield, WI; Kathryn (Robert Starstead) Krause, Green Valley, AZ; Barbara (Jorges Sanchez) Krause, Siren, WI; Nancy (John) Parker, Edina, MN; three sons, Michael (Jane Aleckson) Krause, Superior, WI; James (Patti) Krause, Jr., Forest Lake, MN; John Krause, Boulder, CO; five grandchildren, Shawn (Marie) Roberts, James W. (Cortney Wadino) Krause III, Lindsey (Nathan) Kale, Ashley and Cassidy Krause; two step-grandchildren, Jordan and Byron Parker; three great-grandchildren, Jenna and Cody Roberts and James William Krause IV.

In addition to her husband James, Vicky was preceded in death by her parents and her stepmother, Eva (Valby) Fedyn.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Mass on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Holy Assumption Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci of Cathedral of Christ the King, as celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
