Violet "Vi" D. (Tyykila) Anderson

Violet D. “Vi” (Tyykila) Anderson, 82, Iron River, WI, passed away on January 1, 2018 at Middle River Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Maple, WI on August 8, 1935 to Matt and Mary (Lepisto) Tyykila.  She lived in Maple and Iron River, WI.

Vi married Reino Anderson on December 8, 1952 and they celebrated forty-two years of marriage before his passing. She was very dedicated employee of the Maple School District for eighteen years where she worked as a custodian. Previous to that she had been employed with Peavey Foods and the taco plant in Poplar, she also farmed, milked cows and made fishing poles. Vi had a very special way with animals and she was a wonderful baker.

Vi is survived by four daughters, Diane (John Autio) Pearson, Dorothy (Brian) Michaud and Mary Jo Luostari, all of Maple, WI and Tina (Mike) Clemmer, Onalaska, WI; one son, Donald (Julie) Anderson, Maple, WI; eighteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bertha Mikkola, Maple, WI and Maryann (Rodney) Lahti, Oulu, WI; several nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Emil Colby, Sheboygan, WI.

She was preceded in death by her husband Reino, son Dick, grandson Taylor, great-grandson Dallas, son-in-law Fred Luostari, sisters Ailie Colby, Elna Johnson, Lillian Santiko and Helen Niemi and brothers Swen, Fred, Ray (Vi’s twin), Ed and Irvin Tyykila.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Essentia Health St. Mary’s and Middle River for wonderful care they provided for Vi.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5 ^th Street, Superior and continue until the 1:00 PM memorial service with Pastor Chuck Ells officiating.
