W. Marvin Johnson

W. Marvin Johnson, 82, Brule, WI, died Sunday, November 4, 2012 peacefully in his home in Brule, surrounded by his family following a brief, courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on November 24, 1929 in Superior to Walter H. and Lydia (Byorni) Johnson.

He graduated from the Columbia High School in Iron River. He then went on to serve his country in the United States Army serving sixteen months as a specialist third class in Korea.

He married Kay F. Bouchard on January 9, 1960 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Iron River and celebrated fifty-two years of marriage.

Marvin was employed as a paramedic for the Douglas County Ambulance Dept. for thirty years.

He enjoyed spending time at their cabin on Deep Lake in Iron River and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

He would attend the county board meetings with his wife Kay and he loved spending time with the senior citizens in Brule. He was a devoted Packer fan and enjoyed watching games with his family.

In addition to his wife Kay, Marvin is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Archie) Lahti, Maple, Linda (Steve) Levine, Brule; one son, Marvin E. (Michelle) Johnson, Cloverland; six grandchildren, Rhawnie, Kimber, Ashley, Nick, Jake and Kaddie; two brothers-in-law, David Anttila, Fr. Charles Bouchard; one sister-in-law, Margie Bouchard and three nephews, Jim, Tom and Jerry Anttila.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Vivian Anttila.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until the 12 Noon Memorial Service on Friday, November 9, 2012 at the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Ave., Superior with Fr. Charles Bouchard, officiating.

A fellowship luncheon will follow at the Brule Town Hall at 2:00 PM.

Inurnment will be at the Everrest Cemetery in Waino.
