Walfred "Wally" Anderson

Walfred “Wally” Anderson, 81, Port Wing, WI, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Paul, MN.
He was born December 31, 1933 in Port Wing, WI to Edwin and Anna (Person) Anderson.

Wally served in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1957.
He married Karen Clauson on September 2, 1961 in Port Wing and celebrated 53 years of marriage.

Wally was employed as a millwright for Continental and Peavey Elevators for over 30 years, retiring in 1996.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Port Wing, American Legion Post #531 of Port Wing and he served on the veterans board of Bayfield County for many years. He was also a member of the Fish Boil Club in Port Wing; the Baseball Club in Port Wing and he was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He loved to hunt with his sons and grandsons and enjoyed ice fishing on Lake Superior. He loved working his hobby farm, raising cattle and cutting firewood.

In addition to his wife Karen, Wally is survived by two sons, Michael (Denise) Anderson, Sparta, WI, Daniel (Elizabeth) Anderson, Chippewa Falls, WI; one daughter, Karla Anderson, Brainerd, MN; six grandchildren, Brandon, Jeremy, Nathan, Sarah, Faith and Hayden; three great-grandchildren, Averi, Hunter and Coralise; one brother, Delmer (Lorraine) Anderson, Northome, MN; one sister-in-law, Joan Anderson, Washburn, WI, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Vivian Sorensen, Helen Beeksma and Margaret Iallonardo and two brothers, Robert “Bob” and Carl “Dossie” Anderson.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and will continue until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at the First Lutheran Church in Port Wing, WI, with Pastor Nancy Hanson, officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Port Wing where military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post #531 of Port Wing.
