Walter W. Moller, 93, lifelong Middle River area resident, died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center, South Range, Wisconsin.
He was born in Superior on March 3, 1918 the son of Arthur and Mary (Kalliainen) Moller. Walter married Geraldine “Gerry” Peterson on October 13, 1945 and had recently celebrated sixty-five happy years of marriage.
He was employed as a grain inspector for over thirty years with Farmers Union Elevator.
Walt loved cars. He ran an auto body and mechanic business out of his garage for many years.
He collected old cars, restoring them to their original form. Gardening and making jam were things Walter enjoyed.
He loved being outdoors, cutting wood, taking care of animals and feeding the birds. He especially loved his dogs.
Walt was a hard-working man who stayed very active throughout his life. He was loved very much by his family and will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
In addition to his wife Gerry, Walter is survived by four daughters, Debbie (Jamie) Androsky, Poplar, Mary Larson, Poplar, Kay (John) Mattson, Lake Nebagamon, Susan Bax, Danbury, WI; four sons, Fred (Karen) Moller, North Port, AL, Dan Moller, Poplar, David (Lynda) Moller, Poplar, Scott Moller, Rhinelander, WI; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lillian (Otto) Berg, Maryland, Nancy Sandoz, Wheaton, IL, June Brown, Superior and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Christopher, his parents and a sister, Esther Pelto.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM until the 12:30 PM Funeral Service on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 in Peace Lutheran Church in Poplar. Pastor Greg Gullicksrud will officiate.
Interment will be in the Parkview Cemetery in Hawthorne, WI.
Pallbearers for the service will be Walt’s grandsons, John Mattson, Nicholas Bax, Erik Moller, Stephen Moller, Maxwell Moller and Christopher Larson.
