Wayne Lidberg Johnson

Wayne Lidberg Johnson, 80, longtime Lake Nebagamon area resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 19, 2010 in St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth.
He was born on May 17, 1929 in Superior, WI to David L. and Mable (Lidberg) Johnson.
He married his wife Alice Harvey on June 10, 1950 in Hawthorne, WI and celebrated fifty-six years of marriage before her passing in 2006.
Wayne was an operating engineer with Operating Engineers Local #139 throughout his lifetime. He also owned and operated D.L. Johnson and Sons Company with his brothers for many years.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Nebagamon. Wayne enjoyed logging, reading and spending time with family and friends especially his grandchildren.
Wayne is survived by two sons, Bruce (Tammie) Johnson, Superior, Bill (Debbie) Johnson, Lake Nebagaon; two daughters, Peggy (Tom) Gallagher, Hugo, MN, Sherry (John) Fechtelkotter, Lake Nebagamon; thirteen grandchildren, Brett (Leslie) Johnson, Nicole (Jamie) Wilson, Julie Johnson, Blake Johnson, Leigh (Marty) Gall, Jeremy Johnson, Justin Johnson, Bryan Gallagher, Aaron Gallagher, Patrick Gallagher, Cody (Beth) Fechtelkotter, Jamie (Pat) Cook and Kiel Fechtelkotter; five great-grandchildren, Tristin, Chloe, Hayden, Aubree and Kylee; two sisters, Audrey Wright, California, Jeanie (Jack) Kallinen, Lake Nebagamon; three brothers, Delroy “Roger” (Betty) Johnson, Lake Nebagamon, Fred (Pat) Johnson, Lake Nebagamon and Lester (Janice) Johnson, Lake Nebagamon and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife Alice, Wayne is preceded in death by two brothers, Wallace and Russ Johnson and two sisters, Lucille Winka and Marjorie Mattson.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM Monday, March 22, 2010 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 23, 2010 until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service in Trinity Lutheran Church, Lake Nebagamon. Pastor Lee Boleman will officiate.
Burial will be in the Lake Nebagamon Cemetery.
Wayne’s grandchildren will be recognized as pallbearers.
Should friends desire, Memorials may be made in Wayne's name to Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Nebagamon, Wisconsin.
