William “Bill” Arnold, 83, Lake Nebagamon, WI, died Sunday, May 22, 2011 in Essentia Health Hospice Care, Duluth, MN.
He was born on September 3, 1927 in Lake Nebagamon to Delbert and Florence (Skare) Arnold.
Bill served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was employed as the Lake Nebagamon Postmaster for the United States Post Office for over thirty-four years.
He was a member of the Lake Nebagamon Presbyterian Church and he served on the Lake Nebagamon Village Board for the Sewer Commission and Zoning Committee.
He was a member of the Hawthorne Trap and Gun Club, the Norwood and Botten Golf Clubs and he also called Bingo for the Lake Nebagamon Senior Citizens every Friday in the auditorium.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening and snowmobiling.
Bill is survived by three stepchildren, Robert (Nance) Beauto, Largo, FL, Dianne (Mike) Dufour, Lake Nebagamon, Wanda Wieck, Pinconning, MI; two half-sisters, Peggy (Denny) Smith, Solon Springs, WI, Mary (Bruce) Cramer, Pleasant Prairie, WI; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and his longtime canine companion and best friend, Tuffy and also his family at Country Companions.
He is preceded in death by his wife Marian, his parents and a brother Bob Arnold.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Thursday, May 26, 2011 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home.
Visitation will continue at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 27, 2011 until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service in the Lake Nebagamon Presbyterian Church with Pastor Richard Blood, officiating.
Interment will be in Lake Nebagamon Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the service will be his grandchildren, Bob Beauto, Jon Beauto, Roland Beauto, Brad Beauto, Tamara Dufour and Tim Beauto.
