William H. Clarke

William H. "Bill" Clarke, 60, lifelong Superior area resident, died Friday, October 2, 2009 unexpectedly surrounded by his family.
Bill was born on December 14, 1948 in Westfield, Massachusetts and adopted by William H. and Anne (Jenda) Clarke.
He graduated from the former Cathedral High School in Superior and attended WITC. Bill also attended UWS and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science.
Bill married Susan Dutil on June 20, 1970 in Augusta, Maine and had celebrated thirty-three years of marriage before her passing on December 16, 2003. William served his country in the United States Navy.
Bill was a previously ship painter in Bathe, Maine.
He was a member of Holy Assumption Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, Council 7106. William was a child sponsor and sponsored a child named Adalayda Colque Chambi from Peru.
Bill enjoyed helping people. In Bills previous years, he was active in Youth Sports and coached basketball, baseball and football.
He had a very special relationship with his grandchildren and loved supporting all or any activities.
William is survived by one daughter, Shelly (Jereb) Walsburg, Superior, one son David (Jodie) Clarke, Superior; one grandson, Johnathan; three granddaughters, Harmony, Kaitlyn and Sydni; one sister, Janice (Roger) Christianson, Superior, one niece, Stacey (Wayne Rose) Christianson, Superior, one nephew, Kevin (Marie) Christianson, United States Navy currently on the USS Abraham Lincoln, Marysville, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his wife Susan in 2003, and a grandson,
Brandon Clarke in 1998, and his best friend, Daisy the Dog.
Visitation will begin after 5:00 PM, Wednesday, October 7, 2009 in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior. Visitation will continue at 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Holy Assumption Catholic Church until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Father Ronald Olson as celebrant.
Pallbearers for the service will be David LaRochelle, Dennis LaRochelle, David Lancour, Roger Christianson, Tim Schlicting, Robert Sickler and Jereb Walsburg. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Johnathan Walsburg, Harmony Clarke, Kaitlyn Walsburg and Sydni Clarke.
Burial will be take place at a later date.
Military Honor's will be accorded by the Thomas F. Stein VFW Post 1091 and
Richard I. Bong, American Legion Post 435 combined color guard.
The Downs-LeSage Funeral home is assisting the family with arrangements.
