William (Bill) Nicholas Linster, 57, of Superior, WI, died July 27, 2025 as a result of a boating accident. He was born April 14, 1968 in Minot, ND, the youngest of 8 children, to Willis (Bill) and Carol (Pommier) Linster. The family lived in Minot until they moved to Stanley, ND in 1974 where Bill attended Stanley schools until his graduation in 1986. During high school he was active in football and track.
Bill enlisted in the US Army in 1986 and served until 1988. He continued his service in the Army National Guard until he was honorably discharged in 1995. He attended Minot State University where he obtained his BS degree in business. During his college years he participated in the track and field program.
Bill participated in management training programs with both Osco Drug and Target Corporation. He lived and worked in Bismarck, ND for a time before he relocated to Duluth, Minnesota. While in Duluth his career included working for AstraZeneca as a pharmaceutical representative. He spent a period of time on his own buying, refurbishing and selling real estate property. At the time of his death, he worked assembling electronic devices and doing construction work.
Bill enjoyed all outdoor activities including hiking, mountain biking, inline roller blading marathons, camping, kayaking, water and snow skiing. Bill’s biggest passion was his life on the waters of Lake Superior. He had many good friends and family that he loved to entertain in the Duluth/Superior area.
Bill loved live music and was always ready to go out to listen to a good band. His many friends will remember him as being very kind and always willing to help others.
Survivors include his siblings: Mike (Gerry) Linster, Fargo, ND; Diane (Greg) Johnson, Stanley, ND; Butch (Sandy) Linster, Rapid City, SD; Brenda (Randy) Jarmin, Stanley, ND; Patricia Linster, Minneapolis, MN; Caryn (Cordell) Wold, Watford City, ND; and Judy (David) Bryant, Brandon, Manitoba. Many nieces and nephews along with great nieces/nephews; Aunt Isabelle Pommier, many cousins and many dear friends also survive.
Preceded in death by: his parents; grandparents: Joseph & Martha (Bruels) Linster, Bernice (Strathe) Pommier and Victor & Irene Pommier; brother-in-law, Michael Fehilly; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Celebration of Life is planned for August 15 at 6 pm at the Barker’s Island Inn in Superior, WI.
