William M. “Billy Whiteshoes” Johnsen, 62, longtime Superior resident, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, MN.
He was born on December 9, 1952 in Superior to Bernard and Marilyn (Anderson) Johnsen.
He was employed as an operating engineer at Grandma’s Restaurant Company in Duluth, MN.
Billy loved doing crossword puzzles in his spare time.
Billy was a member of the Superior Moose Lodge #606, the Superior Curling Club, the Superior Trap Club and the Nemadji Men’s Golf Club. In addition to curling, golfing and shooting trap, Billy enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling, riding his Harley motorcycle and in his younger years he liked to downhill ski. He was an avid Wisconsin sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers. He also loved to spend time at Charlie Brown’s Campground in Gordon, WI where he was always lending a helping hand or giving someone a hard time. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandson, Carson.
Billy is survived by one son, Benjamin (Kristen) Johnsen, Superior; one daughter, Marissa Johnsen, Duluth, MN; one grandson, Carson Johnsen, Superior; his fiancé, Linda Noble, Superior; Linda’s three sons, Joshua Noble, Superior, Nathan (Apple) Noble, Victoria, MN and Daniel Daigle, Superior; and Linda’s granddaughter, Ellinor Noble; two brothers, Philip (Cindy) Johnsen, Gordon, WI, Brian Johnsen, Rochester, MN; two sisters, Patricia Hansen, West Bend, WI, Sherri Kay (Greg) Debroux, Fond du lac, WI and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Service on Saturday, April 25, 2015 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5 th St., Superior with Chaplain Mary Sedin of Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center, officiating.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at Who’s Bar, 1114 Tower Ave. in Superior immediately following the memorial service.
