William Padgett, 74, longtime area resident, died unexpectedly Saturday, February 15, 2020 at his home. He was born on July 2, 1945 in Detroit, MI to Floyd and Ruth (Kaufman) Padgett.
He served his country in the United States Navy. William married Sue Joiner on March 14, 1992 and they celebrated twenty-seven years of marriage before his passing. He was employed as a wheelsman for the American Steamship Company and a member of the Seafarers Union. He loved fishing, taking road trips and spending time with his family and friends. He also was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
William is survived by his wife, Sue; three daughters, Lisa Newman, Vicki White and Stacy (Keith) Luckey; one son, Bill (Misty) Tollefson; thirteen grandchildren, Jesse Rhodes, Briauna (Travis) Ruberto, Michael and Kaelee White, Brice, Brenden, Brooke, Braxton, and Breonna Luckey and Mason, Paige, Logan and Nolan Tollefson; four great-grandchildren, Lexi White, Camden Gerlach, Alivia and Carly Ruberto; several nieces and nephews and his K9 companions Duke, Margo and Minnie. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Carol Cubic and brother Art Padgett.
A Time of Remembrance and Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held from 12:00 – 2:30 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior, WI. Military Honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435 Honor Guard at the funeral home.
