William G. Sharpe

William G. Sharpe, 70, lifelong Superior area resident, died Friday, May 20, 2011 at Essentia Health, St. Mary’s Hospital, Duluth, Minnesota.

He was born on June 26, 1940 in Superior, the son of Raymond “Buster” and Sophie (Yaworski) Sharpe.

Bill served his country in the United States Army.

William married Michelle Palmer on March 17, 1995 at St. Francis Xavier Church in Superior and had recently celebrated sixteen years of marriage.

He was employed by the Superior Police Department for over thirty years retiring as a detective in 1990.

Bill was a member of the Superior Elk’s Club #403; Moose Club # 606; Acacia Itasca Masonic Lodge # 329 and the AAD Temple Shrine.        He enjoyed doing water color painting and loved gardening.

Bill is survived by his wife, Michelle, Superior; one son, Jason (Jocelyn) Sharpe, Superior; two sisters, Linda Rae (Steve Espinoza) Buchanan, Eagan, MN; and Kathy (Tom) Schick, Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada; many nieces, nephews and cousins and his mother-in-law, Paula Palmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond “Buster” and Sophie Sharpe; one son, Vince Sharpe in 1987; brother-in-law, Gary Palmer and father-in-law, Jim Palmer.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at St. Francis Xavier Church in Superior and continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Mass with Rev. Father James Tobolski as celebrant.

Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.

Honorary pallbearers for the Memorial Mass will be members of the Superior Police Department..
