William C. “Sully” Sullivan, 86, Superior, died Friday, June 24, 2011 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Duluth, under hospice care.
He was born on September 18, 1924 in Superior to William and Minnie (Petersdorf) Sullivan.
He graduated from the former East High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
He served in the United States Army during World War II stationed with the 595th Ambulance Corp in Europe.
He married Lucille Kennen Lohman on May 23, 1989 and recently celebrated twenty-two years of marriage.
Sully was employed as a lab technician for the Murphy Oil Refinery for many years before retiring on September 1, 1988.
He was a member of the Superior Elks Lodge #403.
In addition to his wife Lucille, Sully is survived by one daughter, Linda (Brian) Denston, South Range, WI; two sons, Daniel (Celia) Sullivan, South Range, WI; Michael (Brenda) Sullivan, Kentucky; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three stepsons, Michael (Sandra) Lohman, Spokane, WA, Scott Lohman, Superior, Kevin (Sharen) Lohman, South Range, WI; three stepdaughters, Melanie Brown, LaVaughn Lohman, Nadine Lohman, all of Superior; twelve step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice Florin and Beverly Paul, both of St. Paul, MN; many nieces and nephews and his grand-dog, Gizmo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Clarence, Leslie and Verne Sullivan; three sisters, Vivian O’Tool, Leota LaTour, and Shirley Otier; four brothers-in-law, John LaTour, Bill Otier, Edwin Paul and Charles Florin; father and mother-in-law, Everett and Evelyn Kennen; step-granddaughter, Nicole Lohman and stepson, Steven Lohman.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Memorial Service on Thursday, July 7, 2011 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home. Rev. Fr. James Tobolski, pastor of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in the Veteran’s Memorial Park in Greenwood Cemetery.
