Wilma C. Deroo

Wilma Deroo, Superior, died Friday, February 26, 2010 in St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth.
She was born on August 1, 1926 in Hoboken, New Jersey to William and Gertrude Van Beekum.
She was a longtime member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, a member of the former Henry S. Blomberg VFW Post Auxiliary #847, of which she was past president, she was also a member and past president of the VFW Cooties Pup Tent #2. Wilma enjoyed doing craftwork as well as crocheting. She loved to shop and she enjoyed working at the former 3rd Rock.
She is survived by five sons, Daniel (Dee) Thompson, Texas, Thomas (Ann) Thompson, El Paso, TX, Jason (Michele Ford) Deroo, James Thompson, Superior, South Range, WI, Bernie (Tanya) Thompson, Minong, WI; two stepsons, Frank Deroo, Austin, TX and Jon Deroo, Springfield, MO; three daughters, Gloria (John) Skylondz, Poplar; Donna Thompson, Superior; Trudy (Derry) Flynn, Newport, Rhode Island; twenty-three grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Gertrude Chrysler, Florida; many nieces and nephews and her very best friends, Fran and Roger Searle and Jan Gozanski.
Wilma was preceded in death by her first husband, Bernard Thompson; her second husband Harry Deroo; two sisters, Jeanette Waage and Helen Delen; two grandchildren Jamie Soleim and William Skylondz and a stepson, Steve Deroo.
Visitation will begin at 3:30 PM until the 5:30 PM Memorial Service on Monday, March 1, 2010 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Daniel Dahlberg, of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson, WI, officiating.
Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Wilma’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth, Neuro-trauma Intensive Care Unit especially Dr. Vincent Ohaju, Brad, Jessica, Leianne and Chaplain Michelle Robbie.
