Winnogene "Winnie" Johnson

Winnogene “Winnie” Johnson, 84, longtime area resident, died peacefully surrounded by her family, Monday, September 28, 2020 in the comfort of her home in Foxboro, WI. She was born in Kempston, WI January 8, 1936, the daughter of Roy and Florence (Galligan) Byholm.

Winnie was a graduate of the former East High School in Superior and was active in the reunion committee.

Winnie was once named National Guard Queen and enjoyed baton twirling, tap-dancing and ballet.

She was united in marriage to Raymond B. Johnson and they celebrated forty-nine years of marriage before his passing.

She owned and operated “Estate Sales by Winnie” for many years, and was also a secretary for the former attorney, Bob Gee, and for WITC.

Above all, Winnie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and she will be dearly missed by all.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Kevin) Podvin, Superior, WI, Brenda (Doug) Smith, Foxboro, WI, and Laurie (Chuck) Cleaver, Poplar, WI; grandchildren, Michael (Robynn) Stark, Anna (Marcos) Colòn, Paul Hartel, John Smith, Courtney and Dayton Podvin, and Charlie and Clint Cleaver; great-grandchildren, Sophie, Noelle and Jack; and sister Crystal.

She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Yvonne, Virgil (Ike) Andy, and Dawn; her loving husband, Raymond; and daughter, Kathy Stark.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and staff at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Private family services will be held.
